Food and Nutrition
DC Voices for Meal Choices is a sub-committee of the Food and Nutrition Committee of the Metro Washington Public Health Association (MWPHA) advocating for menu labeling in Washington DC. We believe residents and visitors of the nation's capital have a right to know how many calories they consume when eating at restaurants throughout the city, and that having nutrition information will allow consumers to make healthier choices when purchasing prepared foods. Health Disparities- HIV/AIDS
The Positive Places is a sub-committee of the Health Disparities Committee of the Metro Washington Public Health Association. We are working to form a greater coalition of local organization with the goal of ending the wait for those on the list for HOPWA funding. As a group of change-agents, we try to empower DC community residents, advocates, and lawmakers to end the wait list for over 440 people with HIV/AIDS in DC who are entitled for housing, Since we believe stable housing improves the health and quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS as well as decreases transmission rates and protects the public. Our online petition is a way to show D.C. metropolitan residents' support for housing efforts for people living with HIV/AIDS.
